ALLAI President Catelijne Muller appointed to EU AI Act Advisory Forum

On June 3rd, 2026, the European Commission presented the members of the EU AI Act Advisory Forum. ALLAI is honored and proud that its President Catelijne Muller was selected to join his Forum. The Forum consists of experts from academia, civil society and industry, including small businesses and startups. They will offer independent technical expertise on the AI Act, from standardisation to implementation challenges.
The Advisory Forum will provide independent technical expertise and advice on a broad range of issues related to the AI Act, including standardisation and implementation challenges. Its members come from academia, civil society and industry, including small and medium-sized enterprises and startups. Their selection also aims to reflect gender and geographical balance, as well as a well-calibrated expertise, including specialists in AI literacy, GPAI and different sectors covered by the AI Act.
Key European Union agencies will have a permanent role in the forum, including the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights and the EU Agency for Cybersecurity, ENISA, as well as standardisation bodies.
“I am very honoured to have been selected for this Forum”, says Catelijne. “Having worked on AI for almost 10 years now, starting as EESC AI Rapporteur and member of the EU High Level Expert Group on AI, I have seen Europe continuously approach AI from a multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder perspective. The Advisory Forum aims to continue this approach which I strongly support.”
A crucial time
The AI Act Advisory Forum is established at a crucial moment, for several reasons. First, current and expected AI developments around LLMs, generative AI and agents bring about challenges and raise issues that can only be addressed by appreciating the interests, and leveraging the expertise and experience, of all stakeholders. The AI Act provides a solid framework to address these challenges and issues, if implemented and enforced effectively. However, the EU simplification process for the AI Act (AI Omnibus), that was recently finalized, can jeopardize this. , “This is the worst time to loosen the reins”, says Catelijne. “Stakeholders from the wider society can help return the AI Act to the podium it deserves”.
Working methods of the Forum
The EU AI Act Advisory Form will formally start its work on the 19th of June 2026.
